About

Hello, my name is Thomas Anthony Wiwchar. I'm studying Industrial Design at Carleton University. I love to create things. I grew up on the lakes of northern Ontario with my nose in a book, my left hand in a Lego bucket and my right at the end of a paintbrush.

Design is a huge part of my life. I have been doing it for as long as I can remember. I spend many hours of a day coming up with design ideas and mulling them over in my mind. I like to analyze problems and work out solutions by sketching many iterations and building prototypes. My education at Carleton university has amplified this part of my life, giving me the training and tools to pursue my passion for design.

During my education I have come to learn that good ideas are cheap and common, but what makes them really valuable is the effort put into developing and refining them into a good product, and ultimately being able to communicate concepts and designs in efficient intuitive ways. I'm eager to master these skills and feel like a career in Industrial Design is a dream come true.

I like to use diverse materials and textures in design, so there is contrast tactually as well as visually in the product. I believe in celebrating the materials in a product by showing them off and maximizing use of there unique properties to the design advantage.

In my spare time I enjoy creating music, piloting airplanes, and going on adventures with my family.
