After using the Elecom EX-G for 2 years, I have come to realize that a trackball mouse is extremely efficient for laptop use in a variety of applications, from 3d modelling to simply navigating the interface quickly and efficiently. I often see people hitting there laptop trackpad hard in frustration in comparison with the ease of flicking the trackball with your thumb.
I had a few issues with the way the original Elecom EX-G trackball mouse was designed. some of the buttons were in awkward and unreachable spots, the palm of the mouse was not breathable and would get sweaty. The mouse was mostly hollow plastic and a little cheap feeling. The largest problem was its gamer aesthetic. harsh angles and black color made the mouse unsuitable for any users who don't identify as gamers.
My redesign is fashionable for everyone with its cleaner and more exotic look. Its designed to fit around the same electrical components as the original. The vented silicone palm helps to increase breathability and comfort. the buttons are all easily accessible. I hope this design can bring the benefits of a trackball mouse to a wider audience, and decrease frustrations with operating computers.
